Thank you for being part of every journey that creates a lasting positive impact.

Little Explorers'

Impact

Every journey with Insan Wisata Kids is more than a memorable experience for Little Explorers and their families—it also makes a direct contribution to environmental restoration and conservation. Our mangrove planting program is made possible through an official partnership between Insan Wisata Kids and Sungai Kupah Village, formalized under Cooperation Agreement (SPK) No. 06/PKS/IW.K/III/2026. Through this collaboration, every adventure helps create a lasting, positive impact on local ecosystems and communities.

Challenges Faced

Sungai Kupah Village continues to experience tidal flooding driven by the impacts of climate change. These recurring floods accelerate coastal erosion and threaten the livelihoods of local communities who depend on the sea for their income.

Our Solution

To address these challenges, the people of Sungai Kupah Village are restoring their coastline through mangrove planting, creating a natural barrier against coastal erosion and saltwater intrusion. This community-led initiative involves 65 households in growing and planting mangrove seedlings, demonstrating how lasting environmental change begins with local action.

Why Are Mangroves Important for Our Planet?

Forests aren't the only ecosystems that help combat climate change. Coastal ecosystems also play a vital role by capturing and storing significant amounts of carbon—a process known as blue carbon. Blue carbon refers to the carbon absorbed and stored by coastal and marine ecosystems, particularly mangrove forests and seagrass meadows.

Mangroves store carbon in their trunks, roots, and soil for decades—even centuries—while also serving as natural barriers that protect coastlines from erosion and storm surges. When these ecosystems are damaged, however, the stored carbon can be released back into the atmosphere, accelerating climate change and leaving coastal communities more vulnerable to tidal flooding and erosion.

Every mangrove planted in Sungai Kupah Village helps preserve this vital blue carbon ecosystem—capturing carbon, protecting coastlines, and supporting a more resilient future for coastal communities.
